The NYLCV is proud to endorse Joanne Cunningham for Albany County Legislator in the 34th district. Since taking office in 2015, Legislator Cunningham had co sponsored, voted in favor and introduced numerous pieces of environmental legislation. Legislator Cunningham introduced and is now redrafting the plastic bag ban bill. She introduced a local law which requires establishments to provide single use plastics such as straws and cutlery only upon request, and she co-sponsored the Bethlehem Conservation Easement Program. Legislator Cunningham also supports many environmental projects relating to the expansion of alternative transportation, transfer taxes that would allow municipalities to set aside money for open space, charging stations for electric vehicles, and water protection initiatives that propose higher fees for polluters. If re-elected Joanne Cunningham will continue to promote and vote on legislation that makes Albany County and District 34 a more sustainable community.
