Jennifer Gutierrez
Jennifer Gutierrez is running for re-election to represent District 34 in the New York City Council. During her time in office, she has fought against the construction of new fossil fuel infrastructure in her district, which has historically suffered from environmental justice issues. Gutierrez has secured the planting of over 500 new trees in District 34 to reduce the urban heat island effect and has worked for almost a decade to transform the Brooklyn Queens Expressway into green space for the public through the project BQGreen. If elected, she plans to prioritize the upgrading of NYCHA developments to reduce environmental and public health issues, investing in education campaigns for composting, and bolster the implementation of Local Law 97 to cut emissions and create thousands of green jobs.
