Erik Bottcher
Erik Bottcher is running for re-election to represent District 3 in the New York City Council. He has pursued a pro-environmental agenda since being elected in 2021. He has promoted the reformation of the City’s sanitation policies, sponsoring legislation for a zero waste goal by 2030 and promoting organic waste recycling and curbside waste containerization projects. He funded the Hudson River Park Trust to establish new organic waste drop-off sites throughout the park and established new drop-off sites by the Lower East Side Ecology Center in other parks and near subway entrances. He successfully helped pass the “Skip the Stuff” legislation, which reduces plastic waste from take-out or delivery orders. Bottcher plans to prioritize environmental initiatives through continued waste management efforts, expand green space in neighborhoods that are currently underserved, and strengthen emergency preparedness and resiliency citywide if re-elected.
