Ellen Calves

Ellen Calves is running for re-election as Town Supervisor for Bedford. As Supervisor, she has supported fossil fuel-free heating and cooling in town buildings and obtained a grant to install Electric Vehicle chargers. She successfully advocated for the Stretch Energy code and community solar initiatives and promoted using low-carbon concrete. Furthermore, she led the reusable bag task force and implemented policies to reduce gas-powered leaf blowers. With the help of a DEC grant, she piloted curbside food scrap pick-up and led Meatless Monday and zero waste campaigns. She also implemented comprehensive mapping of local farms, CSAs, and supported mapping wildlife corridors to advocate for more sustainable development laws and protect ecologically sensitive land.
