Daniel McCoy

Daniel McCoy is running for re-election as Albany County Executive. As County Executive, he has implemented policies to reduce carbon emissions, improve the sustainability of buildings, manage waste and plastics, and increase recreational space. Thanks to his efforts, Albany has already achieved bronze status as a climate-smart community and is working toward silver status. McCoy has also taken steps to improve energy efficiency by converting street lights to LEDs, entering into solar contracts for three high-electricity facilities, and installing EV charging stations across the county. He has banned styrofoam containers and plastic straws and has gotten young people involved by asking them to design reusable grocery bags. If re-elected, McCoy hopes to improve the county’s hiking trail system to ensure the recreational enjoyment of the county’s residents.
