Councilmember Crystal Hudson is running for re-election to represent District 35 in the New York City Council. She has been a consistent environmental leader, earning a 100% rating on the NYLCV Environmental Scorecard for three consecutive years. She has been a strong advocate for sustainability, climate resilience, and environmental justice, working to combat decades of environmental racism impacting black and brown communities. Hudson has championed game-changing legislation, including supporting the Citywide Greenway Plan, and expanding solar access. She is also leading efforts to modernize waste management, sponsoring legislation to mandate textile waste separation, require large buildings to containerize waste, and improve sanitation infrastructure to reduce rodent infestations. In land use planning, Hudson is pushing for climate-conscious construction, ensuring that new developments in District 35 are prepared for rising rainfall and expanded alternative energy use. She firmly believes in centering sustainability and climate action in all policymaking, if re-elected she will work to make Brooklyn and NYC greener, cleaner, and more climate-resilient.
