Antonio Reyoso
Antonio Reyoso is running for re-election as the Brooklyn Borough President. Throughout his political career, he has remained strongly committed to environmental protection. As a former Chair of the Sanitation Committee in the City Council, he championed policies that reduced emissions, improved waste management, and promoted environmental justice, and played a key role in passing the Waste Equity and Commercial Waste Zones laws. Outside of legislation, Reyoso has partnered with organizations such as the State Department of Environmental Conservation and UPROSE to advance transitions to renewable energy and develop mitigation strategies in air quality monitoring. He has co-sponsored Local Law 54, addressing emissions in the transportation sector, as well as calling for the regulation of last-mile warehouses and investment in public transit, biking, and pedestrian infrastructure. In addition, Reyoso has secured $20 million in funding for solar panel installation on affordable housing and green space maintenance, and has called for other monetary sponsorships such as the expansion of the NY Solar Tax Credit, which would fund agricultural sustainability projects and increase renewable energy use in food production. If reelected, Reyoso would continue to advocate for and fund sustainable infrastructure, urban greenspace, and reduction of fossil fuel dependency.
