Albert A. Stirpe Jr.
Assemblymember Albert A. Stirpe Jr. has represented the 127th District since 1990, consistently supporting a wide-breadth of initiatives to protect New Yorkers from leaded paint, incorporate renewable energy and increase accessibility to fresh food.
As a member of both the Committee on Agriculture and the Committee on Tourism, Parks, Arts and Sports Development, he has sponsored A08599, to include lakes in adopt-a-municipal park or shoreline programs as well as A10493, which allows toll discounts for local farmers transporting their produce. Of particular focus to Stirpe Jr. is incentives for clean energy use, visible in his countless measures to establish tax credits for green upgrades to home or business facilities in addition to his push for the establishment of the Sustainable Communities Fund, which authorizes grants for municipal corporations that utilize smart growth and climate resiliency principles. He has furthermore been a vocal advocate for zero-emissions vehicles, improving mass transit funding and ride-sharing in Upstate NY, and in 2016 he started the CNY Citizens Trails Council, which unites cyclists, runners and hikers to promote local trails. His relentless efforts merited him a 94% on the NYLCV 2017 Environmental Scorecard.
Looking forward, Stirpe will continue to spearhead efforts to improve flood mitigation plans, conserve natural resources, and remove toxins from our environment.
