Allen Wright
A graduate of the Local 14 Apprenticeship Program, Allen has been a member of Local 14 for more than 20 years. In the course of his training and throughout his career he has worked in all phases of the industry including foundations, road repair, bridge and tunnel rehabilitation, building erection and high-rise crane operations.
In addition, Allen served as a Lead Instructor of I.U.O.E. Local 14’s Training Program and he has also worked as a Master Mechanic at the World Trade Center Hub Project where he managed heavy equipment operations.
Allen has been the Political Director of I.U.O.E. Local 14-14B since 2013 and has been a member of the Executive Board since 2014. In 2019 Allen was also appointed Business Representative for Local 14-14B.
Allen is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Delegate to the New York City Central Labor Council, on the Board of GAP – Government Affairs Professionals and Member of 100 Black Men of New York, Inc.
Allen was born and raised in Brooklyn in a union household; his mother a member of the United Federation of Teachers and his father as a member District Council of Carpenters Local 1536. He remains committed to the ideals instilled upon him by his parents and to the spirit of community where he remains socially and politically active.
Allen holds a degree in Psychology (B.A. Brooklyn College 1997) as well as a New York City Teachers license for trade instruction.
True to his belief and commitment to service, Allen continues to participate in grassroots programs such as A Voteless People is a Hopeless People, Youth Step USA, Big Brothers Big Sisters and is on the Local 14-14B K.I.D.S. Committee. Allen is also an active member of Alpha Phi Alpha the fraternity of Martin Luther King, Thurgood Marshall and David Dinkins, Allen has committed his time and energy to carry on their commitment to providing opportunity for all.
