Bill Stachowski Named Among Dirtiest Candidates In Nation

State Sen. Bill Stachowski, who is running for re-election in the 58th District in Western New York, is one of 12 candidates running for state office around the country to be named to the League of Conservation Voters’ “Dirty Dozen” list. The new list marks the first time that LCV’s trademark federal Dirty Dozen program was extended to state-level candidates. Sen. Stachowski was the sole Democrat and the only New York candidate ranked among the state-level “Dirty Dozen.”

'Sewage Crisis' Seen In Great Lakes

A new study found that 41 billion gallons of untreated sewage and dirty stormwater were dumped into the Great Lakes last year. The same study estimates that it will cost Great Lakes communities approximately $23.3 billion to solve the overflow problem.

Air Pollution Nixes Buffalo's Sewage Agreement

The ink was barely dry on Amherst's approval for the Buffalo Sewer Authority to incinerate its sludge when the deal fell through due to state air quality objections.
