- Senior Lecturer of Environment & Politics at Cazenovia College
- Founder and Chair of the annual "Symposium on Energy in the 21st Century"
- Environmental advisor to Senator Hillary Clinton for the past seven years
- Member of Andrew Cuomo's transition team on the environment
- Served on President Bill Clinton's transition environmental committee and Attorney General Eliot Spitzer's transition team
- Former regional coordinator of the Clean Air/Clean Water Bond Act of 1996 and member of the New York State Superfund Reauthorization Working Group under Governor George Pataki
- Chair, Sierra Club Atlantic Chapter (New York State)
