United Water Closer To Tapping Hudson For Drinking Supplies

Hoping to build a water filtration plant for Rockland County consumers, United Water [1] announced that the company is looking to build a testing facility [2] in the town of Haverstraw.

After the testing is conducted, the best method will be put to use in a new water plant.

It will take an estimated 6 months to build the testing facility and another 12 months to conduct the actual testing. Various state and federal agencies will monitor the project's progress.

United Water hopes the eventual water plant will product 4 million gallons of drinking water daily from the Hudson, increasing to a possible 7.5 million gallons later on.
