The Hudson Valley's Solar Energy Consortium [1] is picking up more public support, with additional funding allocated by the Ulster County Legislature expected to reach the project this week.
Vincent Cozzolino is CEO of the Solar Energy Consortium.Ulster County Development Corp. President Lance Matteson told the Daily Freeman [2] that the initial burst of county support would total $130,000. Another $70,000 will be disbursed during the rest of the year.
The funds will be added to another $6.5 million in the recently concluded state budget [3]. Assemblyman Kevin Cahill [4] , D-Kingston, and state Sens. William Larkin [5], R-Cornwall, and John Bonacic [6], R-Mount Hope, were instrumental in getting the funding into the budget, while U.S. Rep. Maurice Hinchey [7] helped create the project last year and secured more than $5 million in funding.
The Solar Energy Consortium is working to attract companies involved in solar technology to set up shop at TechCity in the town of Ulster.
