New York, New York --- The New York League of Conservation Voters, the nonpartisan voice for New York's environmental community, today announced its endorsement of RoseMarie Panio for Yorktown supervisor. SHe also helped prevent a golf course from being built too close to the Croton Reservoir, and has served with local organizations including the Yorktown Conservation Board, the Yorktown Recycling Committe and the Friends of the Croton Watershed. "RoseMarie Panio has demonstrated both a dedicated commitment to our environment as well as the ability to get things done," said Nanette Bourne, chair of NYLCV's Westchester Chapter Board. "We enthusiastically endorse her candidacy, and urge all Yorktown voters to support her at the polls on November 6." If elected, Panio has vowed to make the environment a high priority. She plans to preserve additional open space, expand the town's tree--planting initiatives and make the town's vehicle fleet more fuel-efficient. In response to the endorsement, Panio said: "I am honored and personally gratified to receive the endorsement of the New York League of Conservation Voters after my years of dedicated work to protecting the environment, and look forward to continuing to preserve and improve our environment."########################### The New York League of Conservation Voters (NYLCV) was founded in 1989 as a non-partisan, policy making and political action organization that works to make environmental protection a top priority with elected officials, decision makers, and voters by evaluating incumbent performance and endorsing and electing environmental leaders to office in New York State.
