Celebrate Environmental Progress in Westchester County

We are thrilled to announce that New York State Senator and Westchester County Executive-Elect George Latimer will be joining us as a special guest at our annual Westchester Cocktail Party at the Crowne Plaza on Monday, December 4th. County Executive-Elect Latimer has been a dedicated supporter, sponsor, co-sponsor and advocate for environmental legislation and funding at every level of government he has served in throughout his career in public service.

Westchester Green Business and the New York State Research and Development Authority will be honored at the event. The Westchester Green Business program is the region’s only green business certification program and currently has 89 member businesses and organizations of various sizes in a cross section of industries. The program began in 2009 as a partnership between The Business Council of Westchester and Westchester County. Westchester Green Business is funded in part through Governor Andrew M. Cuomo’s Cleaner, Greener Communities (CGC) initiative which is administered by NYSERDA. The initiative encourages communities to incorporate sustainability goals and principles into local decision-making, leading to a reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and the generation of economic development benefits.

Representative Sean Patrick Maloney will keynote the evening. Since he was first elected in 2012, Representative Sean Patrick Maloney has been a strong advocate for the environment, both in the Hudson Valley and in Washington. He has championed food and agricultural issues, including the Young and Beginning Farmers Act, while also fighting to protect our drinking water supply from pollution and prevent new oil barge anchorages in the Hudson River.
