William Colton, member of the Assembly Environmental Conservation Committee and former chair of the Legislative Commission on Solid Waste Management, has been a veteran fighter for environmental issues since 1996.  Colton has sponsored many pieces of legislation featured in the NYLCV’s most recent Progress Report, including the Child Safety Product Act and the Invasive Species Act.  He has also backed more ambitious legislations for the utilization of solar power in New York State and to implement a carbon emissions cap.

As a strong believer in mitigating the detrimental effects of climate change beforehand, Colton firmly believes that inaction will induce severe consequences for New York.  Desiring a sustainable future for this state, Colton will continue to take on the important environmental legislation and fight for the health of New York.
