Traces of tritium were found in the sewage plant a mile away from Indian Point nuclear plant yesterday.
According to the EPA tritium is a radioactive isotope of hydrogen with a half-life of 12 years. It is naturally produced in the upper atmosphere when cosmic rays strike air molecules and as a byproduct in nuclear reactors that produce energy.

Gateway Park, which stretches from Jamaica Bay to Sandy Hook, NJ, is going to need some help according to a recent report put out by the National Parks Conservation Association (NPCA). The group rated it the worst park in the nation and scored it a mere 53% for poor water and marshland conditions and 46% for cultural resources.

Seems that NYLCV isn't the only one talking about climate change around Long Island. At a forum in West Islip last night, members of 'Long Island Climate Solutions Network' met to discuss plans on how to get people involved in community action groups to conserve energy and reduce carbon emissions.

Mayor Bloomberg today released his third "Campaign Accountability Report."
According to his report card, 96% of the 100 campaign promises the mayor made during the 2005 campaign have either been fully implemented or are currently being implemented.
