BP Backlash Deals Blow To LNG Project In New YorkSubmitted by Revell Schulte on Wed, 2010-07-28 11:10.
Besides highlighting the need for state action on clean energy, the BP oil spill has had another consequence for New York: a pause in plans for a liquefied natural gas terminal off New York City.
According to the Daily News, the U.S. Coast Guard and the U.S. Department of Transportation both accepted the withdrawal of the application last week. The terminal had been planned to deliver up to 2 billion cubic feet of liquefied natural gas, or LNG, per day through an underwater pipeline connected to the mainland in Nassau County. |
