As fuel prices rise, more people are using Long Island ferries as a way to cut down on costs and travel time, according to Newsday. Even with increased ridership, however, ferry companies have been hurt by higher diesel fuel prices. While some companies raise their fares, others are aiming to conserve fuel by sailing with the wind and tides. |
