Local, State Budgets Boost Solar Energy ConsortiumSubmitted by Dan Hendrick on Thu, 2008-06-05 11:25.
The Hudson Valley's Solar Energy Consortium is picking up more public support, with additional funding allocated by the Ulster County Legislature expected to reach the project this week.
The funds will be added to another $6.5 million in the recently concluded state budget. Assemblyman Kevin Cahill , D-Kingston, and state Sens. William Larkin, R-Cornwall, and John Bonacic, R-Mount Hope, were instrumental in getting the funding into the budget, while U.S. Rep. Maurice Hinchey helped create the project last year and secured more than $5 million in funding. The Solar Energy Consortium is working to attract companies involved in solar technology to set up shop at TechCity in the town of Ulster. |
