NYC City Council Plans Infrastructure Task Force

Submitted by Daniel Menezes on Tue, 2007-11-27 13:48.

The New York City Council announced plans to create an infrastructure task force that will closely monitor private development projects.

According to the New York Sun, the infrastructure task force will be headed by Council members Daniel Garodnick and Letitia James, and will examine the effects of plans by private developers and government on issues like traffic, telecommunications and energy. Projects that could receive oversight by the task force include the redevelopment of ground zero, the Atlantic Yards project and the Second Avenue subway line.

Council Speaker Christine Quinn said yesterday that the task force "will broaden the scope of the Council's oversight and help find solutions, so that our infrastructure keeps up with the pace of our City."
