Weiner Makes Green Energy a DC PrioritySubmitted by Joseph Steindam on Thu, 2007-06-21 11:22.
Currently, New York only generates 2% of its power usage from renewable resources like solar panels and wind turbines. By 2020, Weiner would have wind turbines and other sources of renewable energy providing 20% of the energy to power the Big Apple. Weiner's new initiative would not just help the earth; New Yorkers would also save another kind of green. According to a press release from Weiner's office, the requirements would save New Yorkers nearly $3 billion in electricity and natural gas bills, and generate $2.2 billion in new capital investments. Who knew that going green could save so much green? |
