Elected to the New York State Assembly in 1998 to represent District 129, William Magnarelli has proven to be a reliable supporter of pro-environmental legislation.
Magnarelli received a 94% on NYLCV’s 2017 State Environmental Scorecard, voting in favor or key pieces of legislation such as school food donation education and updating water saving performance standards. This past legislative session he sponsored numerous bills including A08440, which allows the Department of Transportation to enroll New York state in any program to improve transportation infrastructure, safety, and efficiency.
The Assemblyman has also been a staunch advocate for the creation of a New York State Greenhouse Gas Management R&D Program and funding for organizations like the Finger Lakes-Lake Ontario Watershed Protection Alliance that works to promote environmental resiliency. Additionally, as a member of the Central New York Regional Economic Development Council, he has supported efforts to develop a regional “sustainability plan” and promote environmentally beneficial projects for investment.
Assemblyman Magnarelli is eager to continue advocating for progressive conservation policies to protect the health of New Yorkers and the state if re-elected.
