Since taking a seat on the Senate in 2014, Terrence Murphy has proved a champion on numerous environmental fronts, from advocating for the implementation of renewable energy to allocating appropriate funding for sustainable development initiatives throughout the state.
Murphy has additionally proved a strong advocate for protecting the State’s natural resources, including authoring and passing the first state program to address harmful algae blooms, prevent the closing of beaches, protect our drinking water and recreational lakes. He has also taken a number of actions to protect the New York community from toxic waste, such as his “Shed the Meds” prescription drug take-back program, and being a co-sponsor of the legislation to close the fracking hazardous waste loophole. Murphy’s consistent efforts in progressing New York’s environmental agenda have earned him an 85% on NYLCV’s 2018 Environmental Scorecard.
