Mark Levine

Mark is running for New York City Council, District 7

Councilman Mark Levine has been successful in spearheading pro-environmental legislation since he was elected in 2013.

As Chair of Committee on Parks and Recreation, Councilman Levine boasts a 100% pro environment voting record on the annual NYLCV Scorecard for the years of 2014 through 2016, and sponsored both the Intro 154, “Park Maintenance Tracker”, which requires the Department of Parks and Recreation to provide an annual report on the funds spent on maintenance in each DPR park, and Intro 873, “Car Sharing Access”, which requires the Department of Transportation to establish a pilot program that provides car-sharing organizations with dedicated parking spaces. Councilman Levine also sponsored Intro 738, which bars individuals from performing work on gas piping systems after January 1, 2020 unless such individuals are licensed plumbers, hold a gas qualification, or hold a limited gas qualification and are supervised by a gas qualification holder.

If re-elected, Councilman Levine will remain a strong proponent of restoring open spaces and bettering the overall environmental resiliency of New York City.
