As a campaigner and treasurer for Councilman Ritchie Torres, as well as a board member for Community Board 10, Marjorie Velazquez understands how to reach out to a community and use discretionary funds and resources to make change in a community. If elected to the New York City Council, Velazquez will work to improve our environment and ensure that families have access to the adequate resources.
Velazquez will use her influence to improve environmental programs to benefit New York residents. She would expand as the Green Infrastructure plan to provide better protection against storms, create a program to help NYCHA residents plant their own gardens, and advocate for the 2006 Solid Waste Management plan and New York City Green Corps program.
Velazquez is strongly committed to being a steward of our environment and in the Council would dedicate herself to issues of environmental justice and equity.
