Since her election to the County Legislature in 2013, Ellen Birnbaum has made environmental action one of her top priorities.
Birnbaum has made strides to reduce congestion, working on a traffic calming project and speaking up about maintaining funding for the NICE bus system in Nassau. She has also been a proponent of creating bicycle lanes and has worked with the county to consider various locations for them. She has also fought for to protect our natural resources, securing Community Revitalization Program funds for the Great Neck Water Pollution Control District and collaborating with the Parks Commissioner to monitor the spending of funds for the upkeep of the fields, walking trails, and dog runs in her district park.
If re-elected, Birnbaum would be an advocate for a Long Island railroad track expansion and electric vehicle expansion.
