As a member of the Committee on Environmental Conservation and the Committee on Transportation, Carl Marcellino has been placed in a position to create impactful environmental legislation. Since his election to the State Senate in 1994, he has done just that.
In 2017 Marcellino received an 88% on NYLCV’s State Environmental Scorecard voting in favor of significant bills such as S5422A, which increases the percentage of biofuel heating oil sold in Nassau, Suffolk, and Westchester Counties.
This session, Marcellino sponsored bills that allow the Department of Environmental Conservation necessary management of blueback herring and scup, establishes the High-volume Hydraulic Fracturing Waste Tracking Program and program for the disposal of automobile mercury switches, researches and reduces harmful outdoor lighting effects, prohibits publicly owned treatment works from accepting wastewater linked with natural gas, and more.
In Senator Marcellino’s career in public office, he has turned hundreds of bills into law and made the State cleaner, safer, and greener for all those who inhabit it. If re-elected to the State Senate, he will without question continue his mission.
